GERMAN SHEPHERD SEARCH DOGS
German Shepherd Search Dogs of Washington State provides, as a free public service, trained dogs (air scenting), and trained handlers. They can respond day or night for search and rescue operations at the request of any official agency. GSSD provides continuous training and education for members and their dogs to insure a competent and capable service. Handlers are trained in search and rescue methods, scent theory, survival, wilderness navigation, communications and first aid. The teams are self-sufficient and can search for 48 hours without support. Types of searches have included wilderness, rural and urban, avalanche, water and structural collapse, and evidence.
